how much content should go into a website?

How much content does my website need?

Content is the backbone of any website. Your site will be successful if it has enough attractive, highly relevant content to satisfy your users’ needs and get them to keep coming back for more. If it doesn’t have enough content your visitors won’t stick around long enough to find out about your company. The word count for a typical webpage is around 1,000. However a good website that ranks in Google needs between 10,000-30,000 words.

What is good content?

Some people think in order to create great content you need to be a writer. But, if you have some experience and know your topics well then your just fine creating high-quality content on your website. The cornerstone of quality content is keyword research. If you have a website, that mean’s you are interested in something, so you probably have little nuggets of information about a certain subject area. You probably have something of interest to share. But does this make it good content? Think about what is needed. Do a quick search to see what is already out there, and where there might be a hole in the market.

How many words per page should I have on my website?

You want your website to tell a story. Your home page is the first line of that story, and should have enough information for people who are still evaluating whether or not you’re worth their time. A home page should have around 1500 words. Secondary pages such as an ‘About’ page can be more concise, at around 800 words in order to keep visitors on-site longer and help them get further acquainted with what they might find if they stay awhile. Where as a contact page, might only have 100 words. There are lots of word counter tools to help.

Blogs, as a form of expression and creative outlet for writers around the world, have to be engaging – which is why you need between 800-1200 words. If there are less than that then it probably means either your blog doesn’t really offer anything interesting or new from other blogs, or you just don’t know what to write about!

What’s the average number of pages on a website?

The average number of pages on a website is around 20.

Generally this would include; Home, About, FAQs, Contact, Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions. Then any specifics to the site, maybe a few blog posts and a shopping cart.

However some websites have hundreds of pages.

How do I write content for my website?

The first step to writing content for your website is coming up with an idea. Brainstorm ways in which you can use keywords that people are searching, and write about them. This way when someone types something into Google they will find your page on the search engine’s results pages (SERPs). Make sure that each post has a clear purpose whether it be to entertain or inform or even sell!

Content isn’t just text

For some, the most important aspect of content is its visual appeal. The fact that images are not just for decoration also makes it more appealing to those who want their blog posts or other written work to be informative and engaging as well.

Is an image content?

A good image can make any piece of writing come alive, but making a sketch from scratch takes time and effort which may not always be available if you’re busy with your business–which begs the question: where do you go? Stock photos have been used by many great bloggers before starting out themselves because they were easily accessible; however they look pretty terrible. It’s so easy to take your own photos, or get a budding designer ot aritst to make some sketches. Just ask them, then credit them with a back link. Then everyone wins.
